Mariola Genova studied Fine Art and Stage Design in Sofia, Bulgaria where she received a Master of Fine Arts degree. In the early years of her career, Mariola worked as a specialist in the field of art restoration and Iconography in renowned Eastern Orthodox Churches in Eastern Europe. While working in Europe – Italy, Czech Republic and Bulgaria as an art director and stage designer in theatre, Mariola produced over 100 projects for theatre, ballet, film and television.
In Canada, Genova works as a free-lance artist and interior designer. Her idea of creating the project Scattered Seeds in 2001-2003 in Toronto, brought her international acclaim as she organized a group of 8 Bulgarian artists who won the grant to travel and present this exhibit on an international scale in Europe: Bulgaria and Italy; and in Canada: Toronto and St. John’s, Newfoundland. She has participated in numerous international solo and group exhibits, and her art resides in private collections in Italy, Poland, Germany, Austria, Bulgaria and Canada. Her most recent artwork deals with environmental phenomena – the beauty of the Mediterranean deep blue sea represented in abstracted forms.
