IMG_4642 Mira and jazz music know each other well for a long time. Her love for Myles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday dates back to her high school years. For Mira, it was a natural step forward when she decided to devote herself to singing and recording jazz. Her debut album “White in White” (2000) was conceived in collaboration with the magnificent Bulgarian piano player and close friend, Rumen Toskov – Rupeto.

In 2001 Mira began her work with Jazz FM Radio Bulgaria, creating the specialized shows “Desafinado” (for Latin jazz) and later “Singin’ n Swingin’” (for vocal jazz). Both shows are still on air.

Her second album, “Vuelvo al Sur” was released in 2012. In this record Mira invited her fans to join her on a musical journey south, to the lands where Bossa Nova, Tango and Latin jazz were born.

In the following years, Mira developed and organized several different concert programs, each followed by a tour. “Singin’ n Swingin’” (2013) was dedicated to the work of remarkable jazz vocalists. “Cinema” (2014) was a series of concerts with some of the most inspiring movie themes.

In 2015, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Billie Holiday’s birth, Mira went on the “Blue Moon” tour. A year later, the “Desafinado live” tour celebrated bossa nova and the music of Brazil.

In the last two years, Mira is organizing Plovdiv Jazz Fest, a one-week event which welcomes international and local jazz musicians. Among the guests of the festival so far have been Kurt Elling, Mike Stern and Dave Weckl, Richard Bona, David Linx and Rosalia de Souza, and others.IMG_4644

Mira’s third studio album “My Cinema” was released in 2016 to widely positive reception among the jazz audience and critic. Her interpretation of the love theme from the legendary movie “Cinema Paradiso” was praised as “amazing” by Andrea Morricone, co-author of the piece.

At the end of March Mira Katsarova will present her new concert program, called “The New Standards”. This project is inspired by very popular and distinguished songs of not only jazz artists but also it includes some of the most prominent names in pop music as Michael Jackson, Prince, John Lennon, Massive Attack, Sting etc. In the new project of Mira their songs will be arranged and performed as modern jazz pieces.

In the spring of 2017 Mira will tour the US and Canada with her exceptional band – Vesselin Vesselinov – Eco (bass), Mladen Dimitrov (drums) and Miroslav Turiyski (piano).

Vesselin Vesselinov is very capable and gifted Bulgarian bass player, whose talent is remarkable and makes Eko one of the most sought-after musicians for different projects. He plays equally well jazz, rock and pop. Therefore his name is part of many successful bands and variety of music programs. Miroslav Turiyski is an impressive and really intelligent young piano player, arranger and composer, known with his new approach of creating and performing music. His total devotion to the music leads him at Plovdiv Music Academy, where as a professor he shares his knowledge and experience with the students and drives them love to play with the same passion. Mladen Dimitrov is very innovative and bright percussionist and DJ, whose name could be found in some of the most prestigious US and European DJ charts and CD compilations. He also participates in various projects, often as a drummer and a DJ at the same time.

The upcoming tour concert program in US and Canada will include the best of Mira’s work so far and newly arranged compositions.
